Kicking off a new season in breck
Ullr may be hibernating for the summer but that doesn’t mean we aren’t busy getting things ready for his triumphant return this winter at Breck.
Well before Ullr awakens for the season though, a winter awakening at Breck is already underway…[SL1]
With opening of the ski and ride season less than 70 days away on Friday Nov. 8, the countdown to winter is officially on! One of the many things we’re excited about as we daydream of the season ahead (in addition to epic powder days in the High Alpine) is the transformation that is taking place at the Peak 8 base area.
Peak 8 is our most popular base area and entry point to the mountain, and the heart of the ski resort.
And, if Peak 8 is the heart, then we’re getting a whole new beat here for the upcoming season.

What does this mean exactly? We’re glad you asked!
- New Look & Feel
Say ‘goodbye’ to green construction fencing, narrow walkways and spread-out skier services, and ‘hello’ to a brand new plaza with a completely transformed look and feel. The open plaza will provide more walking space for guests to move between the BreckConnect Gondola and the base of the ski slopes, in addition to new guest amenities including skier service facilities, an outdoor ice skating rink, coffee shop and additional public restrooms.

- Accessibility & Convenience
In addition to a completely new look, we’re also making the entire arrival experience at Peak 8 a whole lot easier. Starting with… escalators! That’s right, no more having to schlep ski boots and gear up the stairs at Peak 8. This winter, enjoy a smooth ride between street-level and plaza-level, making your trip to the ski slopes that much more seamless.
And, with approximately 20 new drop-off parking spots at the base of Peak 8, there’s a whole lot more room to quickly and conveniently check the kiddos into Ski School for the day.
Finally, a new Town transit stop for the Breck Freeride will provide easy access between Peak 8 and the Town of Breck, especially outside of gondola operating hours.

- Headquarters for Skier Services
This season we open the doors to brand new, state-of-the-art skier service facilities at the base of Peak 8, including new locations for resort ticket and season pass sales, the Breck Ski & Snowboard School, and Breck Sports retail and rental store!

The new facilities will provide the ultimate convenience for guests, with adjacent locations just steps away from the Colorado and Rocky Mountain SuperChairs. Seamlessly pick up your lift tickets, ski and snowboard gear, and meet your instructor in one swoop, so you can get out to enjoy the slopes faster than ever before.
As we look to take the resort experience to the next level, we can’t wait to debut this step. In partnership with USFS, we’re installing a new, four-person high-speed lift to serve our Peak 7 area. This new lift will further enhance the skiing and riding experience on Peak 7 and provide more convenient access between Peaks 6 and 7 like never before. This additionally will further enhance the guest experience at the most visited resort in the U.S. by increasing uphill capacity and improving circulation for the intermediate terrain on Peaks 6 and 7.
