[UPDATE] Late start storm brings powder all day
UPDATE: Along with the five inches we received during the day yesterday, its dumped an additional six inches overnight, bringing Breck’s 24 hour snow total to 11 inches. Today was absolutely incredible up in the 6 Chair and Contest Bowl terrain. The sun made an appearance in the late morning, and provided one of the best ski and snowboard days this season. As Summit County High School senior Grace Frank tells us; you should really get out here!
It was a funky storm to call this morning, as predictions had the snow coming in overnight and into the morning. However in reality, we received about four inches overnight, which was the posted total at 5:30 this morning. It did not snow between 5:30 and 7:00am, however shortly thereafter it started dumping in a big way. By the time the resort opened at 8:30, there was an additional five inches available for the skiers and riders at Breckenridge, really bringing our morning total to nine inches.
The snow calmed down shortly after the resort opened, but the evidence of the freak morning snow burst was very evident. Ski patrol worked tirelessly to open the upper mountain after the quick five inches, with T-bar, 6 chair and Peak 6 opening first. Eventually Imperial bowl opened as well. While slightly wind affected, the T-bar terrain provided some excellent turns in what was once again perfect champagne Colorado powder.
The snow message team also ventured over to Peak 6’s Intuition, below Beyond Bowl, which was just as deep as the shots you see in the video. Keep an eye on the weather, it’s looking like another week/weekend of snow coming at us everyday! That’s when it gets really good!
