Here are our top picks for kid time after dark:

Carter Park

Take your sleds, headlamps and mittens to Carter Park, home to one of the only sledding spots in town. Located at the south end of High Street and adjacent to Breckenridge Elementary School, this hill is small but fast!

Breckenridge Recreation Center

Kids love the rec center’s two climbing walls and indoor pool and twisty waterslide. All services are available with the purchase of a one-day pass or punch card. (Kids 10 and younger need to be accompanied by an adult.) Specialty programs are also offered.

Downstairs at Eric’s Arcade

Play pinball and Ms. Pac Man at Downstairs at Eric’s Arcade on Main Street. The casual sports bar offers plenty of space for kids to play while adults hang out in the restaurant. And their menu is gigantic, with pizza, sammies, salads and apps for everyone in your group.

Cookies, cocoa and a carriage ride

Head to the Breckenridge Welcome Center at 203 S. Main St. and talk to the man with the horse-drawn carriage outside. He’ll show your family around our historic hamlet and share local lore along the way. Be sure to grab some Mary’s Mountain Cookies and hot cocoa downtown afterwards.

Cinema time

The Breckenridge Speakeasy Movie Theatre shows the latest blockbuster films as well as smaller indies and documentaries in an intimate, comfortable setting. Bonus: Children’s tickets are only $7 and there are beer and wine concessions for the grown-ups.

Arts and crafts

The Breckenridge Arts District is a true creative treasure, offering tons of classes, workshops and events. Check the calendar for special kids’ ceramics and pottery classes. Older kids will love the hip hop dance and jewelry-making classes.

Ice skating

Kids of any age can enjoy the Stephen C. West Ice Arena located on Boreas Pass Road. Public skating and hockey sessions are generally offered daily and skate rental and instruction are available on-site for all levels.

Full moon snowshoe tours

Take a guided snowshoe tour through the evening forest and look for animals under the bright moonlit sky. The Town of Breckenridge offers full moon snowshoe tours monthly. Equipment rentals and a light post-hike meal are included
