Conditions from Peak 9’s Gold King

Mild conditions and partly sunny skies made their way to Breckenridge Ski Resort for a spectacular Saturday on the mountain. I made it to the Gold King run on Peak 9 for an afternoon run. The snow was soft and buttery which is perfect for making turns down Gold King’s view-laden terrain. I felt like I was the only one on the mountain as I continued down the run, passing the Upper Peak 8 Transfer to Crosscut.
The views off this run are particularly amazing, as you can see the historic downtown as well as a good part of the Ten Mile range. I had to stop and take in the views (and snap some photos, of course) and then continue down this Peak 9 treasure.
An added plus of this run: it’s just below the Overlook, so you can grab lunch (have you tried the turkey pot pie?) and then continue your epic day exploring Breck’s five peaks. What’s better than a delicious lunch, great views and smooth turns down Breck’s slopes? Sounds like a great Saturday to me.
