Why take Ski School lessons on a powder day

Skiing or riding in waist-deep, untracked powder is one of the best feelings in the world. A combination of high altitude and cool conditions make Colorado powder days some of the best around. To make the most of your time in the deep stuff, take a lesson from Ski and Ride school; here’s why.

Skiing powder is challenging. Taking a ski or ride lesson on powder days will keep you charging hard and enjoying all that Breckenridge has to offer.

Skills: Your ski or ride instructor will make sure you’re equipped with knowledge that can make all the difference on a powder day. Different techniques, such as adjusting your stance and how to navigate terrain, are helpful when learning to float the deep stuff. Stop feeling like you’re swimming and start surfing the pow.

Gear: Has it been a while since you demoed or purchased a new setup? Ski and board companies now make powder-specific gear and your instructor can point you in the right direction. Oftentimes, wider skis and boards with rocker technology will assist in flotation.

Secret stashes: Don’t stand in line on a powder day. With a ski and ride group or private lesson, you have access to the front of the lines, meaning more fresh tracks for you. Your instructor will also know where to find snow late in the day, leading you to secret powder stashes all over the mountain.

Photos: With all that pow, you’re going to need a few photos to brag to your friends and family. Let your ski or ride instructor, or the talented EpicMix photographers, snap some shots while you enjoy the face shots.
