Holiday weekend ends with 10 inches
To honor our honorable presidents this holiday weekend Breckenridge put up a surprise 10 inches of snow yesterday and last night, showing proof that love is still in the air. After an amazing weekend of almost spring like weather, February once again gave us the powder we desire.
North Bowl was the destination for the snow message team, and while the wind had picked the powder up and threw it around last night, there was tons of great skiing and riding all over the mountain. Pika held some of the best snow, as the southerly wind loaded it up very nicely for excellent turns. The tree skiing was where it was at today, and will continue to be this week. At the end of the shoot we also ventured out into Cucumber Bowl for the same reasons of Pika. The snow was definitely deep in there, but the gut of the Bowl looked truly pleasant.
We received another two inches of snow today during the day, and the weather man says we can expect another two to four tonight. Upper Mountain was partially opened today, but will really shine tomorrow with the extra dump tonight. It’s the storm that keeps on giving, so get over to Breck for the last licks.
Ever wonder how we get out snow totals? We have an awesome snow stake web camera that can give you a live report of what’s fallen on the hill. It’s built on a motorized turntable, and resets itself everyday at 5am and 5pm. Check it out if you aren’t already familiar with it. The snow stake is a great tool to use when planning the perfect day of skiing or riding.
