11 inch storm means great conditions
Snow-lovers were rewarded greatly with a storm and powder day to close out January! Breck reported 11 inches of new snow this morning with 9 of those inches falling overnight. This snowfall brings us to 22 inches in the past 7 days leaving the mountain with powder conditions all over and a 55 inch base. You can expect great conditions all week as snow is in the forecast nearly every day. Looks like once again February is shaping up to be our snowiest month.
While this storm brought abundant snow, it didn’t bring the wind, so the powder was nicely distributed over all of our five peaks. The snow message team headed over to T-Bar to start start the day. North Bowl was skiing very well all over, especially in the trees, and straight down White Crown in the gut of the Bowl. The snow was so good we had trouble justifying going anywhere else, but eventually made our way to the Imperial SuperChair to see how it came down there. Visibility wasn’t the best, as this storm hasn’t fully cycled, but deep turns were to be found in this terrain all day.
When the shoot was over, the snow message team stopped by the base of Peak 8 to refresh and refuel with some tasty food and cool beverages at the Ski Hill Grill patio. It was the perfect place to catch a breath on a powder day, and play with one of the patio-side pups. Meatball subs you taste…so good (here’s looking at you Peyton).
The snow continues to fall throughout the day which should set tomorrow up to be another great, and snowy, day at Breck. Check out this week’s forecast, and you’ll realize that it might be time to use one of those sick days your been saving up.
As stated before, we have all the indications that February will be the snowiest month at Breck. It happens every year, so really we’re not like extra special meteorologists or anything. What doesn’t happen every year are the lodging deals going on for February right now.
