Run of the day: Claimjumper

<
Sunny skies, highs in the mid-30’s and over 2,500 acres of skiable terrain make for a great first Sunday of 2016! There’s tons of new terrain, as Whale’s Tale and Peak 7 Bowl opened yesterday. Today, I took a groomer run down Claimjumper to check the snow conditions.
Claimjumper is a really great run for cruising and practicing those turns, as it’s one of the wider runs off Peak 7. Or, if you’ve had a big day on the mountain and you just want to take it easy for the last few passes, it’s the perfect run. It’s nicely groomed and features some great vista points all throughout the run.

The weather is great for staying out all day long, and covering lots of terrain. I headed up the Colorado SuperChair to the Columbine trail, which intersects Claimjumper. Peak 7 has some great blue terrain and is packed with plentiful groomers to boot. From there, you can take the Independence SuperChair at the base of Peak 7 to Angle’s Rest to catch the Zendo Chair to take you to Peak 6 for some even more incredible views.

Claimjumper can take you all the way down to the base of Peak 7, which is a great idea if you’d like to punctuate your epic day by ending it with a beautiful mountain backdrop and relaxation. Head into Sevens Restaurant at the base of Peak 7 and recap all of your travels with your mountain buddies over après and appetizers. It has a breathtaking patio with views of the Rockies, perfect for this beautiful weather we’ve been having. It’s a causal yet upscale environment, allowing you to relax in luxury. Happy hour at Sevens is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. (perfect for post-mountain eats!) and 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. Check out their special menu for Valentine’s Day — you won’t want to miss that! We’ll see you there!
