9 inches in 24 hours opens new terrain
With just a one day hiatus, the weather is back and blowing in that beautiful white powder. This morning Breckians awoke to 9 inches on the snow stake, and a powder day ahead. While we opened with the same lifts and trails that have been open the previous week, we are excited to announce that this storm brought the necessary snowfall to open E-Chair on Peak 9. If that wasn’t enough, the Breck SuperConnect mid-point load is open, servicing new runs: Tiger, Southern Cross, Psycopath, Frosty’s and Lower Boneyard. There’s bound to be some awesome snow in there, so get after it!
Even more exciting is what comes next. We are STOKED to announce that 6-chair will open tomorrow! This will be our first upper mountain terrain opening of the year, and the snow should be incredible given the past two storms.
The Breck snow message team found good lines on Northstar and Dukes today. The snow from the yet-to-be-open upper mountain had blown nicely into these two trails and made for some really smooth and satisfying turns. The gully in Dukes had some great snow set in the moguls, providing really great lines to test your skills. After these runs, we went over to the trees between Claimjumper and Northstar, and found even deeper snow amongst the pines.
To end the day, the snow message team was treated to some delicious hot chocolate at the base of Peak 8, where powder could still be found lingering on the tables and chairs from the previous nights’s storm.
