2015 Mountain Dew Throwback Throwdown [video]

This Saturday, Peak 8 played host to the 4th annual Mountain Dew Throwback Throwdown snowboard competition. This unique even brings our rich history of snowboarding on to a present day platform.
This season marks the 30th anniversary that snowboarding has been participated in at Breck, and we could not think of a better way to celebrate than with a dual halfpipe, jam session-style competition.
The morning kicked off with a bang in our world-class 22-foot super pipe in Freeway Terrain Park. Snowboarders were judged on their style, creativity, and trick technicality.
After lunchtime, the competition then moved down to the base of Peak 8, where competitors threw down in our hand-built retro-style mini pipe. This pipe was dug by hand by our incredible crew and modeled after our 1985 World Cup snowboard competition.
This Spring Fever event is “probably the coolest thing happening in North America right now, if not the whole world!” said one contender. The Mountain Dew Throwback Throwdown is an event that is truly seen nowhere else in the world so if you missed it this year make sure to other Spring Fever events going on the rest of the season.
