March 10, 2015 – Power Outage on Peak 9

Breckenridge Ski Resort is currently experiencing a power outage on Peak 9. Below is information regarding the outage, and how it will affect your day.
Update March 13, 9am –
Great news today – the Peak 9 power issue has been resolved as of this morning! All operations are back to normal in time for the weekend, including both the Overlook and TenMile Station restaurants.
The only remaining disruption today will be on Cashier. Cashier will have periodic closures for continued repair efforts; patrol and mountain safety will be on scene to help with skier traffic and alternative routes. This should be completed today.

Update March 12, 10am –
Here’s what you need to know if you are visiting Breck today:
- All lifts are operational, with the exception of some beginner surface lifts. Village base area carpets are open; Beaver Run kids and adult carpets are also open. Breck Ski & Ride School is fully operational for all ages and abilities.
- The Overlook and TenMile Station restaurants will have generator power and will be open to guests. Both restaurants may have limited menus (mostly cold and grab and go options).
- In addition, the intermediate run Cashier will have periodic closures today for continued repair efforts; patrol and mountain safety will be on scene to help with skier traffic and alternative routes. Please remember to observe all posted signs and warnings and keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
- Peak 9 base areas – The Village (including the Maggie Restaurant and facilities) and Beaver Run – have not been affected and are fully operational.
- Peaks 6, 7 and 8 will be fully operational with no impact.
Update March 11, 9:45am –
- TenMile Station is running on generators until power is fully restored. The food court is open with grab-n-go and bottled beverages. Outdoor BBQ will be served at TenMile Station this afternoon for lunch. The bar will open but will not offer draught beer or espresso.
- Notice to guests with Starlight Dinner reservations: At this time we are planning to cancel Starlight Dinner on Thursday and Friday evenings.
Update 7pm –
- Peak 9 base areas – The Village (including the Maggie Restaurant and facilities) and Beaver Run – have not been affected and are fully operational.
- All lifts are operational, as well as the beginner carpets at the Village base area. All other Peak 9 carpets and platters will be closed until the power issue is resolved.
- Peak 9 ski school facilities are fully operational. Beginner carpets at the Village base area will be open on Wednesday. All other Peak 9 surface lifts (carpets and conveyors) will be closed until further notice. Breck Ski & Ride School is fully operational for all ages and abilities.
- The Overlook and TenMile Station restaurants will have generator power and will be open to the public (including restrooms) on Wednesday. Both restaurants may have limited menus (mostly cold and grab and go options). More info to come on exact services by Wednesday morning.
- Peaks 6, 7 and 8 will be fully operational with no impact.
Update 5:53pm –
- The Village beginner carpets will be operational by 10 a.m. on Wednesday and will run all day on Thursday. All other Peak 9 carpets and platters will be closed until the power issue is resolved.
- The Overlook and TenMile Station restaurants will have generator power and will be open to guests. Both restaurants may have limited menus (mostly cold and grab and go options). More info to come on exact services on Wednesday morning.
- Peaks 6, 7 and 8 will be fully operational with no impact.
Update 1:10pm –
- The restrooms at TenMile Station are now open for public use.
Update 12:30pm –
- The Overlook Restaurant facilities will be closed for the remainder of the day because of the power outage impacts to lighting and hot water.
- TenMile Station will open bathrooms only as soon as the lights are back on.
- The Overlook and TenMile Restaurants will have snacks and bottled beverages for sale outside these two restaurants for cash only until further notice.
Update 10:30am –
- Guests will see periodic terrain closure on the intermediate run Gold King today as power and operational support is transported to/from Overlook Restaurant. Please remember to observe all posted ropes, signs and warnings and keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
- The Overlook and TenMile Restaurants will have snacks and bottled beverages for sale outside these two restaurants for cash only until further notice. Bathrooms at both facilities are still closed because of power outage impacts to lighting and hot water.
- All other on-mountain restaurants are fully operational today, including the Maggie and Copper Top restaurants on Peak 9.
Update 9:00am –
Breck’s Peak 9 on-mountain operations experienced a power outage late Monday afternoon. Our team has been working on the issue; however some facilities are still affected as of this morning. Peak 9 base areas – The Village (including The Maggie Restaurant and facilities) and Beaver Run – have not been affected.
Here’s what you need to know if you are visiting Breck today:
- All lifts are operational, with the exception of beginner surface lifts (carpets and conveyors). Our on Mountain Restaurants, TenMile Station and The Overlook are on a delayed opening today (including restrooms and water fountains).
- Peak 9 ski school facilities will be fully operational today as well. Beginner surface lifts (carpets and conveyors) will be closed until further notice. Breck Ski & Ride School is fully operational for all ages and abilities.
The safety of our guests is our number one priority and operations on Peak 9 will function today to the highest safety standards and to our best in class procedures.
