Peak 9 – The perfect day [video]

Breckenridge‘s five peaks offer a wide variety of terrain. There’s absolutely something for every skier and rider, whether it’s untouched powder, an immaculate park or endless corduroy. In the “Perfect Day” series, we will explore Breckenridge peak by peak, and ask some influential Breck figures why they appreciate their favorite hill.

In this second installment, we meet Sheryl and Bill Rider. These two moved to Breckenridge two years ago from the east coast, and after seeing all three of their children attend college in Coloardo, are now proud and excited to call Breckenridge home. Bill and Sheryl both love skiing, and spend time on all of Breck’s five peaks. However, their favorite is Peak 9.

They like Peak 9 for many reasons, but one of the biggest has to be that you can walk to the base of the Quicksilver from town. This makes is even easier to grab breakfast in town, boot up at the maggie and get on the slopes. From there, the Riders head to the Beaver Run Chair and ski the beautiful groomers from the top of the peak. When it’s time for lunch Bill and Sheryl stop into the newly renovated Overlook Restaurant, where they enjoy the new menu items like chicken pot pie, or lodge favorites like the Epic Burger.

While the Riders love their skiing, they usually take off before the end of the day to hit downtown Breck for aprés before the sun goes down. Once again Peak 9 proves to be the perfect peak due to its quick walking access to Main Street. Twist, a Breckenridge restaurant located on Ridge Street, provides an exceptional happy hour which the Riders like to frequent to end their perfect day at Breck.
