Glen Gerberg Climate and Weather Summit

This week, Breckenridge Ski Resort is holding the Glen Gerberg Climate and Weather Summit, an annual conference for the nation’s top experts to gather and discuss issues such as the current state of our climate and climate change, as well as cover new topics and technologies that will come to shape the ways in which weather and climate is studied in our country.
The summit began on Monday, Jan. 12, and will run through this Thursday, Jan. 15. Today’s summit seminars were held in the Columbine rooms of the Hilton Double Tree hotel at the base of Peak 9 and covered such topics such as the 2014 Hurricane season and NHC products for a weather ready nation, and The New Environmental Intelligence Satellite Series.
Today’s summit had the nation’s top experts in attendance from organizations such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Weather Channel, and the University of Colorado at Boulder, to name a few. Speakers Dr. Rick Knapp and Greg Mandt held open forums following their presentations to answer questions from scientists in attendance as well as from a national live audience via their Twitter feeds.
If you would like to attend, the Climate and Weather Summit will be holding sessions for two more days as well as a Community Town Hall Meeting that is open for public attendance on Wednesday night. The open community event will take place on Jan. 14, from 6pm to 7pm in the Columbine Conference room of the Hilton Double Tree Hotel at the base of Peak 9. Everyone is encouraged to attend and ask questions to learn more about the weather and climate that shape our beautiful environment and create an absolutely stunning setting in Breckenridge for those who like to ski, ride, or just play in the amazing Rocky Mountains of Colorado which we are fortunate enough to call our home.
