Welcome to Breck

How to find the perfect condo in Breck

One SKi Hill Place Peak 8 Winter

This is it … time to come to Breckenridge for more than a big ski weekend. You’re coming to stay for a week or three, and rather than a dolled up hotel room, you’re in the market for a full-blown home away from home, a place where you can have a dinner party, do some laundry, house your family and host a rotating lineup of visiting friends.

Well, you’re in luck, because whether booking at a resort property through Breckenridge.com or seeking a private home via sites like vrbo.com or homeaway.com, there is a bounty of options from ski-in, ski-out luxury units to remote cabins in the woods.

Here are some tips to help you find the perfect rental:

Location
If you’ve never been to Breck, you should take a look at the town map to get an idea of the lay of the land, then nail down your priorities.

OSHP_exterior_winterIs ski-in, ski-out your No. 1 priority – staying where you can walk out and hop on the chairlift, then leave your skis at the front door at the end of the day? If so, you cannot beat the location of One Ski Hill Place – nestled comfortably at the base of Breck’s main peak, Peak 8. Another option is Crystal Lodge, located directly at the base of Peak 7 and just steps away from the Independence SuperChair.

Perhaps you prefer the isolated mountain experience in a private home in Blue River, a few miles south of Breckenridge, or high up on Boreas Pass, both of which are on Breck’s Free Ride bus route. Maybe you prefer a place in easy walking distance to town, like Blue Sky Condos, a couple blocks from Main Street and a short walk to Four O’Clock chairlift.

Visit Breckenridge’s website to book your lodging, and be sure to check out their Official Lodging properties.

Timing
You’ve heard that timing is everything and yes, it absolutely applies here. If you’re planning on coming between Christmas and New Year’s, you’d better book TODAY. This is the busiest week of the year, so don’t be surprised if pickings are slim and rates are more than double what you’d pay any other time of the winter. Also, with spring breakers constantly b-lining it to Breck, March is crazy and condos get booked up fast. You’re almost guaranteed your top pick and rates are considerably lower if your visit falls early (November and early December) or late season (April). Breck constantly offers great vacation deals, so make sure to keep checking back to save big!

If it’s just two of you, you’ll be perfectly happy in a one-bedroom condo, but if you’re bringing the extended family or pack of college buddies, you are probably not going to want people sleeping on floors or in the bathtub. Condos are available with one to four bedrooms and some private homes comfortably sleep up to 20 people. Also, you’ll have to think about what features you’re after. If you want a pool and sauna, you’d better go for a place like Mountain Thunder Lodge, which offers one to three-bedroom condos and townhomes and has a heated outdoor pool, five hot tubs, fitness center and is steps away from the gondola and a short walk to town.

Whatever options you nail down, your stay is guaranteed to be memorable. You probably won’t want to leave.

Too bad they forgot the best location in Brek! The Village is steps away from the quicksilver AND town so you don't have to shuttle down the mountain…
