Top 10 things to do in Breck during Spring

Everyone loves Breckenridge during the winter – the mountain receives some of the best snow in the US and provides amazing terrain to ski and ride. The town is beautiful, and there is always something going on. But did you know that you can have just as much fun in Breck as temperatures start to heat up? Below are 10 amazing things to do in Breck during Spring.
1. Breck Terrain Park 5 ’til 5 Happy Hour
Every Friday afternoon in Spring, Chair 5 (a.k.a. The Park Chair), runs until 5pm in the evening. So much shredding time! This means you can sleep in and still get a good 5 hours of skiing or riding in.
Every year, Breckenridge holds a town-wide Easter Egg hunt. There’s chocolate eggs, candy and heaps of other sweet prizes to find. It’s pretty popular. The young-us are quick! So make sure you get there right as it’s starting.
3. Breck Spring Fever Beer Festival
The ultimate Apres event! There’s no better way to finish off a fun day of spring shredding than having an icy cold beer. Brekcenridge Beer festival features more than 30 craft brewers along with some awesome live music.
Breck Main street has the coolest selection of boutique shops, but I try to hold off from shopping until the end of the season so I can score the special spring discounts. Look for the stores with a Spring Fever logo in their window and ask for the Fever Reliever special.
I prefer to spectate this event, rather than compete! However I hear it’s a whole lot of fun, IF you’re got the lung capacity. The competition involves a 6 mile bike ride from the Rec Center up to Peak 8, a vertical ascent to the top of Peak 8, then a Chinese Downhill style race downhill to the finish line.
Spring in the mountains means it’s time to party. Breck makes this easy by holding a free, live on-hill concert series. .Grab some friends, a beverage from the T-bar, sit back and enjoy.
I find X-country (Nordic skiing) a whole lot more fun in Spring. The sun is usually out and for me it feels like running in the woods, but without the impact. To hire gear or book lessons, visit the Breckenridge Nordic Center.
8. Breckenridge Festival of Film
Breckenridge Festival, in conjunction with Breckenridge Theater, are screening a selection of special films on Thursday and Friday nights throughout Spring. If you’re too tired to hit the town after a long day of riding, this is a good evening option.
9. On-mountain Easter Egg hunt
This year Breckenridge is taking an environmental approach to the traditional Easter egg hunt. 8,000 environmentally friendly Easter eggs will be hidden around the mountain. The aim is to collect as many as you can, then trade them in to collect your prizes at the base of peak 8. This means less trash and more candy! Again, make sure you get out there early. There will be some keen bean Easter Egg hunters at work
This should probably be placed number one on my list, but I thought I should leave the best until last. Breckenridge will be open until the 27th of April this year. Who hoo! Breck will offer a specially-priced, $66 lift ticket for purchase at the ticket windows ($60 online). With the amazing season of snowfall that Breck has had so far, there will be tons of snow to play in.
