Breckenridge Ski Resort announced a significant donation to the Breckenridge Grand Vacations Community Center and South Branch Library in appreciation for the local community’s involvement in the resort’s Peak 6 project, which opened this ski season. During a small reception Wednesday, Blaise Carrig, President of Vail Resorts’ mountain division, and Pat Campbell, EVP and COO of Breckenridge Ski Resort, presented a $50,000 check to Jerry Dziedzic, co-chair of the of capital campaign for this important project for the Town of Breckenridge.

“We are enjoying celebrating the incredible new terrain at Peak 6 this season with our guests and our community. We want to thank Breckenridge for engaging in an extensive public approval process, resulting in the success of Peak 6, by giving back to another equally important community project,” said Pat Campbell, SVP and COO of Breckenridge Ski Resort.

The Breckenridge Ski Resort and Vail Resorts Echo donation is earmarked for the Juniors’ Room at the new library, providing a safe place for ‘tweens’ to learn, explore and play, with books and resources for their age group, and dedicated computer stations.

“We are proud to sponsor this space for our local youth, and to join in the excitement of building these terrific community amenities for our future quite literally on the foundation of our past,” added Campbell.

In 1909, the Town of Breckenridge funded the construction of a new brick schoolhouse that was a source of civic pride for the miners, shopkeepers and business owners of the town, and it represented a certain coming of age for the growing community. One hundred years later, the Town of Breckenridge is again the owner of the historic building, and the Town is taking advantage of a unique opportunity, by partnering with Summit County and its current-day citizens, to restore it to its former grandeur and transform it into a community center and library.

Dziedzic added: “It’s exciting to have so prominent a member of our community as Vail Resorts join in embracing this project. This generous gift brings the campaign to within ten percent of our fundraising goals! Thank you!”
