How to spend Boxing Day in Breck

Breck Boxing Day

Many of you may say, “What is Boxing Day?” In Britain, Boxing Day is traditionally the day following Christmas Day, when servants and tradesmen would receive gifts from their bosses or employers. Back then these gifts were known as a “Christmas box.” Today, Boxing Day is better known as a bank or public holiday that occurs on December 26, or the first or second weekday after Christmas Day depending on national or regional laws.

Here are some fun ways to spend your Boxing Day in Breckenridge

Of course for me growing up in rainy old England, we would spend the day mostly inside staying warm by the fire, playing board games or with cool new gifts and enjoying the delicious leftovers from Christmas day. This is of course an option here too, but there is so much more to do in Breck! One of my favorite Boxing Day activities is trading my board with a friend to go skiing while he tries out my snowboard. Just getting out on the mountain with the family and exploring is always fun, especially this year with the new Peak 6 expansion and over 500 new acres of terrain to explore.

Gold Runner Coaster

If your looking for a bit more of a relaxing day, I recommend going on the new Gold Runner Coaster at the base of Peak 8; it’s a rad rush. Maybe not the most relaxing post-Christmas activity, but still a lot of fun.  The coaster is great for the whole family, and you get to control your speed. Riders just need to be at least 3 years old and a minimum height of 38 inches. Check out the video below:

Treat yourself to a massage

A more relaxing time would be to go to a spa and get pampered with a pedicure or massage. I recommend the Alpine Spa, with the best prices and therapists in town.

Try out new restaurants

Checking out a new restaurant for dinner is nice, as it gets you out of the kitchen and lets you enjoy some amazing food from around the world. Twist, a new restaurant in town, is fantastic. Located on Ridge St, they serve a wide range of comfort foods but with a “Twist” of course.

Sevens Restaurant in BreckAnother great restaurant is Sevens, located at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7. They’re open for lunch and supper and their delicious menu features American, Asian and Mediterranean inspired cuisine.

Thanks for stopping by, have a brilliant Boxing Day and a Happy New Year.
