The Dew Tour is coming – here’s what to expect

The Dew Tour Mountain Championships are around the corner, so here is a look at what to expect in the coming weeks.
It’s November and Breckenridge is officially open. Professional athletes from around the world are descending upon the Park Lane and Freeway terrain parks to train for and compete in the 2013 Dew Tour Mountain Championships.
Breck is the only winter stop of the Dew Tour, and from Dec. 12-15 world class freeskiers and snowboarders will compete in this official Olympic selection event. Events include ski and snowboard superpipe and slopestyle on Breck’s world-renowned, award winning Freeway park and pipe. With the addition of slopestyle to the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games, the Dew Tour brings increased excitement as American athletes battle for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team.
This year, the Dew Tour will also include Dew Tour Showcases – the Riverwalk Center will host Recognize: Film, exhibiting the past season’s most notable films in the ski and snowboard industry, and paying homage to successes of athletes and videographers outside of competition.
When the weekend hits it’s time to party. The stop will see the return of the popular Streetstyle event under the lights in downtown Breckenridge on Friday night. Head down to the Riverwalk Center on Saturday night at 8pm to catch the high-energy modern pop powerhouse Fitz and The Tantrums. Be quick and grab your tickets here.
Dew Tour competitors who call Breck their home mountain include Bobby Brown, Anna Segal, Eric Willett, James Woods, Zack Black, and Keri Herman. Also watch out for big names such as Shaun White, Kelly Clark, David Wise, Maddie Bowman, Chas Guldemond, and Jamie Anderson as they push the boundaries of skiing and snowboarding on Breckenridge’s superpipe and slopestyle courses.
Visitors can enjoy this free event at the base of Peak 8, which will be alive with spectators and vendors at the Dew Tour Experience village. Enjoy the early season snow and watch some of the best skiers and boarders in the world do what they do best. Footpath tickets are free to those that prefer to walk up and see the events – those can be acquired at the lift ticket window.
