Colorado Rapids unveil new jerseys at Breck

If you were skiing Breck on Tuesday Feb. 26 you may have seen random soccer balls flying across the slopes.
Across the United States today, Major League Soccer teams held unveiling events of new jerseys for each MLS club as part of the “March To Soccer” program. These unveiling events are an effort to build excitement and awareness leading up to the kickoff of the 2013 MLS season, which begins this Saturday, March 2.
Here in Colorado, our hometown Colorado Rapids conducted an epic tour of the state on Tuesday, taking the club’s new jerseys around several different iconic Colorado landmarks for signature photo and video shoots, with the first stop kicking off at Breck.
Skiers and snowboarders donned the new jerseys and took on Breck’s trails as a way to highlight the new duds in a different way. The Breck riders were even seen performing a “give-and-go” passing drill on snow — perhaps the first in history.
Rapids legend Marcelo Balboa joined the Breck representatives at the base of Peak 8 to pose for photos and conduct interviews talking about the new jerseys, which are inspired by the state of mind and outdoor characteristics that represent Colorado. The Rapids’ primary jersey is the first in MLS history to feature the names of each of the club’s season-ticket holders, while the design of their new alternate kit is inspired by the Colorado state flag, with the trademark “C” emblazoned on the front of the jersey.
When the Rapids departed off to their next stop of the jersey tour at Red Rocks Amphitheater guests at Breck were left impressed with the new threads that the boys in burgundy would be wearing this season at DSG Park.
As the Colorado sports franchise with the most recent major league championship, Breckenridge Ski Resort congratulates the Rapids on their new jersey designs, and wishes them the best of luck in the upcoming season……..bring the Centennial State home another trophy!
