Breck Bombers: Teaching love for the slopes early

You want your kids to feel good on the mountain. Whether they’re skiing with the family or as a pack of teens down the road, there’s comfort that comes with knowing your young skier or boarder has the confidence and critical thinking skills that come from hours logged on the slopes.

VailResorts_BRK6513_Leisa_Gibson_smallAmong the most progressive children’s ski and snowboard programs out there, Breckenridge Ski Resort’s Bombers ski and ride school focuses on developing solid technique in a fun, safe and confidence-building setting.

Celebrating 27 years this season – so you know it’s tried and true – Breckenridge Bombers is a multi-week program that places students in groups of similar ages and abilities with the same instructor and class week after week.

“Bombers was an easy and fun way to learn how to ski with good instructors and all your friends,” says McKenzie Hart, 15, former Breck Bomber and Summit County local.

Here’s the scoop on the three Breck Bombers programs:

Pee-Wee Bombers

  • For 3-year-old skiers only
  • Must be fully potty trained (no diapers or pull-ups)
  • All ability levels welcomed
  • Offered at Gondola and Beaver Run ski areas
  • 3-year-olds can obtain a free season pass at any of Breckenridge’s Season Pass Offices
  • Once bombers get to the point of stopping and turning without assistance, they’re grouped with other 3-year-olds of the same ability for more ski time

All-Mountain Bombers

  • For skiers ages 4–13; snowboarders ages 6–13
  • All ability levels welcomed
  • 4-year-olds are eligible for a free Season Pass
  • Program spans general technique to steeps and moguls

Freestyle Bombers

  • For skiers and snowboarders ages 8–13
  • Intermediate and advanced abilities only
  • No park and pipe experience necessary
  • Teaches tricks on natural features and terrain parks
  • Focuses on park and pipe, including jumps, boxes, rails and half-pipe

Lift Tickets

  • All participants must have either a Season Pass, a valid Lift Ticket, or a Bombers Lift Ticket 
  • 4 year olds are eligible for a Free Season Pass, which can be obtained at any Breckenridge Season Pass Office

  • December Bombers Lift Ticket: A 3-day December Bombers Lift Ticket can be purchased for $60 when registering for the December Bombers program.
  • Bombers Lift Ticket:  A 7-day Bombers Lift Ticket can be purchased for $140 when registering for the Bombers program
