Spotlight on Telemark Saturdays
Have you ever been riding the chair lift and seen people making turns on skis, but as they did, you noticed that their heels came up off the binding? That is called telemark skiing and it’s thrilling. Much like alpine skiing, the sport’s equipment has evolved, making it an exciting way to explore the mountains. If you’ve ever thought about trying it, Telemark Saturdays are your opportunity to discover a new passion.
Telemark Saturdays are available almost every Saturday during the ski season. Talented Breckenridge instructors that are PSIA telemark certified and know how to help students reach new levels lead these lessons. Not only are the instructors incredibly knowledgeable about the sport, but also, their passion shines through and is sure to rub off on any students looking for fun and adventure. Instructors cater the lesson to group goals and give personalized attention to each individual. Proper telemark technique and skills are explored in a positive, supportive environment, allowing for optimal learning and a memorable experience.
Telemark Saturdays are for every level. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, there is a group for you. This program was designed for anyone who wants to improve, have fun and find other telemarkers to ski with. Beginners can enjoy the camaraderie of learning new skills with peers, while upper levels may venture into above tree line terrain and explore hikes that will bring you to places unimagined on alpine skis. Video analysis is available to those who would like it. But perhaps the best part about Telemark Saturday’s is that groups can cut lines in Breckenridge to stay ahead of the herd. Be prepared to laugh, make new friends and create lasting Breckenridge memories.
If you are interested in Telemark Saturdays, but don’t have any equipment yet, worry not. Telemark equipment is available at Mountain Outfitters located at 112 S Ridge St, Breckenridge, Colo. Students can also go to AMR Ski and Board, next to City Market on N Park Ave, Breckenridge, Colo. Mention that you are enrolled in a class, and they will give you a discount on some great gear.
There you have it, Telemark Saturdays, a wonderful way to kick off the weekend and try something new.
