Breck’s best winter events
Here for Christmas or Spring Break? Here is a look at some of the best events happening in Breck during your stay.
After Thanksgiving, check out the Dew Tour. From Dec. 12-15, visit the base of Peak 8 to watch some of the best skiers and boarders around the world compete in the Dew Tour. This Olympic qualifying event showcases the newly added event of slopestyle and the return of the half pipe. Stars such as Shaun White and Bobby Brown battle for the podium.
After New Years, from Jan. 5-11 Breck honors the snow god Ullr – the Norse God of Snow, and celebrates in hopes of big dumps. Take part in free events all over town from Nordic skiing to the Ullympics; compete in the frying pan toss or sacrifice your Christmas tree to the town bonfire! Don’t miss the Ullr parade on Jan. 9 and the Ullr Classic Pond Hockey Tournament on the Jan. 11.
In January, the spotlight is on the Budweiser International Snow Sculpting Championships. This international event draws teams from all corners of the world, such as Iceland, France, Mongolia and Mexico. By working around the clock, these 20 ton sculptures are created within days and then on display at the Riverwalk; make sure to vote for your favorite for the “Peoples’ Choice Award.”
Although far from Louisiana, Mardi Gras in Breck is a party you shouldn’t miss. As if you needed one, the annual Mardi Gras Ball at Beaver Run and the Mardi Gras Parade are great excuses to get your beads, masks and music out and join the fun.
After months of winter, we get a bad case of spring fever in Breck. If you are here for Spring Break, enjoy the sunshine and powder while checking out some of the best parties in town. From skiing and boarding competitions to big name bands, Spring Fever in Breck is the culminating event in the mountains. Celebrate a great winter as Peak 8 transforms into a concert hall and great bands take the stage. Stay tuned for this year’s lineup.
Whether you are here for the holidays, to ring in the New Year or just passing through on the weekend, there is always something going on at Breck. Follow us on Facebook and don’t miss a beat.
