Ski to fight cancer Saturday at Breckenridge
Individuals and teams of skiers and snowboarders will hit the hill this weekend to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s annual Hope on the Slopes event at Breckenridge Ski Resort.
Participants are raising pre-event dollars for the American Cancer Society as well as competing in an on-mountain Ski/Snowboarding Challenge (via EpicMix) on Saturday. Groups of friends, co-workers and families with clever team names, such as Carving for a Cure and Cancer is B.S., will head toBreck to support American Cancer Society-funded research, education, advocacy, and patient service programs.
Breckenridge resident and ski resort online marketing manager Morgan Bast and her team, the Fighting Jackalopes, are attempting to raise $2,000 for Hope on the Slopes.
“Everyone on my team has been an avid skier for years but have never put our skills to a good cause,” Bast says. “We figured being able to ski our faces off with EpicMix and help raise money for the American Cancer Society was a great way to get involved.”
So far, 31 teams have registered and more than $52,000 has been raised. Stop by theMotherloaded Tavern on Friday, February 24 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. for a Hope on the Slopes (HOTS) party and a HOTS Après Ski Event at Quandary Grille on Saturday, February 25 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Coors has donated a keg to both events for HOTS donations with a percentage going back to the organization.
